Beauty shot – How I did it + BTS pic!

It’s been a while since I played around with my lights. So I decided to do something about it and went for a beauty shot.

Anyway, I happen to know Iskra, who happens to know Davorka, who happens to be an aspiring make up artist. We all met at my place the other day and had a nifty photo session. Here’s one of the pics we did that day.

Lighting setup was pretty straightforward, it consisted of three lights. Key light was shot through a beauty dish, which was placed in front and above the model’s face. Two more lights were placed behind, left and right, shot through softboxes. There’s a BTS pic down below, with all the details about lights. Post processing included some skin retouching with clone stamp and healing brush tools, as well as some dodging and burning. Hope you like it and don’t forget to check, like and follow Davorka on Facebook and Instagram!

Camera and light settings:

  • Canon 600D @ 1/200 ISO 100
  • Canon EF 50mm f1.4 @ f7.1
  • Three Yongnuo YN-560III Speedlites (details in the pic below)
  • Triggered by Yongnuo YN560-TX manual flash controller
