Praktica MTL 5 – 365 Project – Day 37

Praktica MTL 5 was one of my first film SLR cameras. Made by Pentacon in German Democratic republic aka East Germany in early 80s. Very robust and always reliable and it’s in mint condition, as you can see in the pic! 😉 This is a little tribute to it.

Today I went for black background, lit by one of the flashes to separate the camera from the background. Second flash was above, shot through softbox, and third flash was in the front, shot through scrim. Check the section below for more details about how I did it!


Camera and light settings:

  • Canon 600D @ 1/200 ISO 100
  • Canon EF 50mm f1.4 @ f8
  • 3 x YN-560III flashes (details in the pic below)
  • Triggered by Yongnuo YN560-TX manual flash controller
